Janet has lived in Waverley, including in Farncombe, for over 30 years.

A retired criminologist, she has a particular interest in rehabilitation, helping people access employment, training and education, as well as general reform of the criminal justice system for both adults and young people. Now retired, she spends much of her time helping with her two small grandsons, is a Trustee at the Guildford Institute and has just been elected as a Waverley Borough Councillor.

Janet has volunteered at the Godalming & Villages Community Store, which was set up during Covid and now continues to support people through the cost-of-living crisis and she intends to offer whatever support she can to this vital resource.

Janet’s hobbies include interior design, reading, cooking and music.

Originally from Liverpool I moved south well over a decade ago and I love living in Godalming.  I qualified as a solicitor over 8 years ago and works nearby in Guildford for a local firm.

Prior to 2023, Labour's Richard Ashworth as been one of your Town Councillors implemented changes such as the wonderful new youth services in Farncombe and the Godalming Community store.

The lack of proper solutions at a national level can be seen locally in the empty shops on our high street, in the state of our public services, the lack of nursery places and the need for the community store and warm spaces.

Our town is a wonderful place but we need to work hard to keep it that way.

I will focus on a sustainable solution for increasing nursery provision. To focus on building modern, green, affordable homes on suitable sites with proper infrastructure. To improve local public transport such as improving the level of local buses.

I will support the action against those polluting our waterways, against the Dunsfold drilling and look to develop the infrastructure to support our drive for a green future.

I'm a keen cook, who loves spending time outdoors in the beautiful Surrey countryside. I'm a big rugby union fan and a long-suffering supporter of Everton FC.

Charlotte is a Solicitor and grew up in Godalming attending Broadwater School and thenGodalming Sixth-Form College. After studying at Manchester University and the University of Law in Guildford, Charlotte qualified as a solicitor 7 years ago and is currently working in house as Senior Legal Counsel.

I want to help make our community flourish for all of us. Affordable, sustainable housing needs to be supplemented by good transport and a safe liveable environment with good services and policing.

I will support council initiatives to create a council-funded affordable nursery, to expand the local youth service and continue to implement green measures to hit the council’s Net Zero target.

Charlotte enjoys spending time with family and friends and loves music, theatre and film. Charlotte also loves spending time outdoors, hiking and running.
